Kashi Vishwanath Mandir is one of the most famous Hindu temples dedicated to Mahadev. It is located on the west bank of the holy Ganges River. One of the twelve Jyotirlingams, or Jyotirlingam present in this temple. The main deity is known as Sri Vishwanath and Vishweshwar, which means Lord of the Universe.
In ancient times the city of Varanasi was called Kashi, and hence the temple is popularly called Kashi Vishwanath Temple. The temple is managed by the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
It was demolished by several Cruel Muslim rulers such as Mohammad Ghori, Sikandar Lodi, the sixth Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, and built the Gyanvapi Mosque on its site.

Kashi Vishwanath Corridor
PM Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone of the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor project on March 8, 2019. The 700 crore project is spread over an area of 5 lakh square feet, which also includes 24 buildings, renovation, and beautification of more than 40 ancient temples.
The project in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, connects the Kashi temple and the ghats of the Ganges river. The project aims to ensure easy movement of pilgrims and devotees between the Ghats and the temple.
The first phase of this project has been constructed at a cost of Rs 339 crore. Which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 12 December 2021.

The project cost around Rs 700 crore. Phase-1 of the Kashi corridor project which costs around Rs 339 crore, was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi on 12 December 2021.
